In individual or one-on-one therapy, we meet weekly or as needed to work on specific issues and goals that we identify together.
This is a type of psychological counselling (psychotherapy) that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflict. We can also use family therapy to help a family support a family member with their therapeutic goals (e.g. help a patient overcome an eating disorder).
Group therapy helps individuals develop communication skills and socialization skills, and allows clients to learn how to express their issues and accept criticism from others. Group therapy allows individuals to develop self-awareness by listening to others with similar issues. With my co-leaders, I also provide psychoeducation groups on trauma to provide a foundation for patients to work in individual therapy.
